Only reheat British Wagyu that was cooked, cooled and stored safely, and heat it until steaming hot throughout. Keeping a rare centre is not the target for reheating leftovers. A small, evenly cut serving is easier to heat consistently than a large whole piece.
The FSA advises refrigerating cooked leftovers within two hours and using them within 48 hours or freezing them. Follow any shorter pack instruction. If the cooling or storage history is uncertain, do not rely on smell or reheating to make the decision for you.
| Situation | Action |
|---|---|
| Safely chilled cooked steak within its limit | Reheat only the portion you intend to eat |
| Steak already reheated once | Do not reheat it again |
| Steak saved with cooked rice | Use rice-specific rapid cooling and 24-hour refrigerated limits |
| Food left out for an unknown period | Do not treat a second sear as a safety reset |
This can limit prolonged dry searing, but it does not guarantee the texture of a freshly cooked steak. Thickness, amount and starting temperature determine the time.
Use a microwave-safe container and follow the appliance's covering, turning, stirring and standing instructions. Check several parts of the portion because a hot edge can hide a cooler centre. The FSA fact checker recommends smaller meat pieces to help avoid uneven heating.
For a current purchase, compare available cuts and pack details in the British Wagyu collection.
For uncooked frozen beef, first follow the product's thawing directions; reheating is a separate task. If a saved dish contains rice, follow the FSA rice advice rather than extending its storage to the steak's general 48-hour window. Any sauce added during reheating brings its own allergen labels.
