Wagyu Chuck Roll: Choosing 100g, 200g or 400g

Choose 200g of sliced Japanese A5 chuck roll for the two-person hot-pot recipes linked below. A 100g option halves the beef quantity; 400g doubles it. These weights describe the total raw beef selected, not the number of steaks or a guaranteed cooked yield.

What exactly is being compared?

The Japanese A5 sliced chuck roll listing offers several weight options. It supplies thin slices, which suit cooking in batches in liquid. It is not a whole chuck joint and should not inherit a slow-roasting schedule.

Selected option Example allocation Choose it for
100g 100g for one person, or 50g each for two. One beef course or two small tastings alongside other food.
200g 100g each for two. The two-person sukiyaki or shabu-shabu recipes.
400g 100g each for four, or 200g each for two. A larger group, with the rest of the menu scaled accordingly.

These are menu choices rather than nutritional standards. More tofu, vegetables, rice or other courses can change how much beef each guest wants. See the raw-weight portion guide for the calculation.

Which dish fits the format?

Sukiyaki uses a sweet-savoury sauce, tofu, vegetables and udon. Shabu-shabu uses a lighter broth with separate dipping sauces. Both linked recipes allocate 200g beef to two people.

For four diners, 400g matches the same 100g raw allocation. Scale vegetables and accompaniments, but do not put twice as much cold beef into the pan at once. A larger total requires more cooking batches; it does not justify a fixed doubled cooking time.

Is one 400g option the same as two 200g options?

They have the same nominal total raw weight, but do not assume identical packaging or a bulk discount. Compare the selected prices and confirm separate sealed packs if that is necessary for two meal dates. A multipack or basket count alone is not proof of individually sealed portions.

In the basket, one selected 200g option at quantity two means 400g total. One selected 400g option at quantity two means 800g total. Check both controls before checkout.

What happens if you buy too much?

Plan storage before thawing. Follow the delivered label and do not assume you may thaw a large pack, divide it, then refreeze the unused raw slices. A smaller purchase can be the more practical choice when you cannot use the larger amount within its handling instructions.

Does thin slicing mean a five-second cook?

No. Keep slices separate, add small batches, restore the cooking liquid's heat and cook fully according to the pack and recipe. Folds, thickness and cold additions change cooking time. Wagyu grade does not establish raw-food safety.

Compare current prices and available delivery for your postcode before ordering. The pack comparison here remains a quantity guide, not a stock or delivery promise.
