Quick answer: to cook Japanese A5 Wagyu ribeye, thaw it fully in the fridge, dry the surface and use a well-heated heavy pan. Brown every outside surface, then adjust the heat to the steak's actual thickness. A 200g weight does not tell you how thick the steak is, so a fixed number of seconds per side is not a reliable finishing rule.
Choose the 200g option on Japanese A5 Wagyu Ribeye, 200g for the small-steak method below. The listing describes this beef as frozen. Its selector also offers larger weights and multipacks: check the selected option before adding it to your basket. The card belongs to this ribeye, not to a whole sirloin or a different cut.
The A5 Wagyu grading guide explains the grade. It is not a cooking-time instruction, and it does not establish a particular BMS score for every product.
Place the sealed pack on a tray at the bottom of the fridge, away from ready-to-eat food. Allow it to thaw completely; the centre should no longer be frozen. Do not thaw it on the worktop. The Food Standards Agency's storage guidance recommends a fridge at 0–5°C and using food within 24 hours of complete thawing. Follow any stricter pack instruction or earlier use-by date.
This product says not to refreeze after thawing. Decide how much you will cook before defrosting the pack. Keep it chilled while you prepare the meal; an extended room-temperature wait is unnecessary. Open it when the pan and sides are ready, and pat both faces and the edges dry with kitchen paper.
For two small tasting portions, use 200g raw beef in total: 100g per person before cooking losses. This is a menu-planning amount, not a guaranteed plated weight. For one larger serving, use the same steak and adjust the sides.
Prepare the rice and vegetables first. Their moisture should not enter the steak pan. The marbling supplies fat as the ribeye cooks; begin without extra oil or butter and keep the seasoning restrained.
The FSA distinguishes intact beef cuts from minced or altered meat. An intact steak can remain pink after its entire outside is properly cooked. That advice must not be applied to burgers, rolled joints or mechanically tenderised meat. If the pack requires thorough cooking, or that is the finish your diners need, cook through; the FSA gives 70°C at the centre for two minutes, or an equivalent combination such as 75°C for 30 seconds.
Neither marbling nor an A5 label makes raw beef safe. Use clean utensils after cooking and do not return the finished steak to its raw-meat plate. See the FSA's kitchen-hygiene advice; it also explains why raw meat should not be washed.
Check the Japanese Wagyu UK buying guide if you are comparing cuts. For this method, select an individual steak rather than a whole joint simply because both carry the same grade.
