Describe what you notice in a specific cooked sample, separating flavour, texture and preference. “Rich”, “tender” and “I liked it” are different observations. A tasting note cannot verify the animal's feed, ancestry, farm or a batch's certification.
| Dimension | Useful words or observations | Keep separate |
|---|---|---|
| Aroma | Roasted, beefy, buttery impression, herb or smoke notes | Whether the aroma comes from the beef, pan, butter or sauce |
| Flavour | Savoury, gently sweet impression, strongly browned | Added salt, sugar and condiments |
| Richness | Light or lingering fatty mouthfeel | Your preferred portion size |
| Texture | Soft bite, firm bite, long fibres, resistant seam | Dryness and slicing direction |
| Finish | How long the impression lasts after swallowing | Whether you enjoyed that persistence |
These are prompts, not expected results for every British Wagyu product. “Buttery” need not mean butter was added, and a sweet impression is not a claim about sugar content.

Try an initial bite without a strong sauce, then add the planned condiment to another bite. If you compare two products, use similar raw allocations and record differences in thickness or cooking. Do not credit origin or feed for a difference that may come from the method.
A pleasant bite is not proof of an olive-fed claim; a chewy bite is not proof that the product is not Wagyu. Supplier documents and traceability answer those questions. A single person's preference also does not establish a market-wide taste winner.
This is a blank home-tasting guide, not a flavour-wheel graphic or a report of a completed panel. Follow the product label and FSA cooking guidance before tasting. Use the buying checklist for the separate questions of product identity, pack size and delivery.
